Job description:

Lifeguards play a vital role in ensuring the safety of swimmers by monitoring water conditions and guest behavior while enforcing safety regulations. In addition to maintaining a secure environment, lifeguards are committed to providing an exceptional experience for all guests through outstanding customer service, contributing to the upkeep of the facility, and collaborating effectively as part of our dedicated team. Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, lifeguards will engage in continuous training and practice throughout the pool season.

Employees have the opportunity for reimbursement of Lifeguard certification costs up to $200 upon completion of a minimum of 200 hours of work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age (a work permit is required for minors under 18).
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment. The City offers complimentary CPR/AED and First Aid classes for Parks employees. Certifications must come from organizations approved by the Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing Division.   • Proficiency in swimming and competence in lifesaving techniques.
  • Ability to effectively remove a patron from the water and administer emergency care.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Capability to perform effectively in emergency situations.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required by the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in babysitting.
  • Background in lawn care.
  • Volunteering experience.
