Base pay will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and experience, with eligibility for team-based bonus opportunities. Please note that temporary associates are not eligible for benefits but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program. Responsibilities:
The role involves providing dementia care that includes adapted activities of daily living (ADLs), fostering meaningful engagement, and maintaining communication with residents as per their individualized service plans. You will be expected to treat residents with respect and dignity, recognizing their individual needs while encouraging independence. Additionally, you will promote an engaging culture throughout the community. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with input regarding their care plans and daily living activities—including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and facilitating participation in programs and meals as per their individual service plans.
  • Actively participating in meetings that address behavioral expressions with the community leadership.
  • Understanding residents’ Life Stories, preferences, and historical routines to tailor care accordingly.
  • Serving meals in the dining room and assisting in meal preparation, while encouraging residents to make healthy dietary choices and take adequate fluids, all while respecting their autonomy.
  • Initiating or leading a minimum of one Daily Path engagement program for residents, promoting social interactions through planned and spontaneous activities.
  • Maintaining accurate daily records of residents’ conditions, medication distribution, engagement interests, incidents, and any changes in their health or behavior, as per company policy.
  • Assisting residents with medication only if permitted by state regulations, while adhering to all medication policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents, adhering to established cleaning schedules across all communal and resident spaces.
  • Responding promptly to emergencies and resident requests, utilizing proper emergency procedures.
  • Monitoring resident locations and notifying supervisors immediately if any resident becomes unaccounted for.
  • Encouraging teamwork through cooperative interactions with colleagues.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred, along with three to six months of related experience or training in direct service with older adults living with dementia, or a combination of education and experience that meets these requirements. Knowledge of dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, is essential.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements:
In compliance with state law, candidates may need to possess current state certification and adhere to regulations required for maintaining certification.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and handle objects, along with reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and communicating effectively. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, interact with co-workers and residents, and manage occasional weekend, evening, or night shifts is expected. There may be exposure to communicable diseases, potential injuries from resident interaction, and substances used in the workplace.
