The Maintenance Repair Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our machinery and equipment through the execution of preventive maintenance. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment. The successful candidate will read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specifications, and work orders to perform necessary maintenance and service efficiently.
The technician will utilize hand tools and measuring instruments to assess changes in dimensional requirements for parts, assemble, install, adjust, and calibrate both mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment. Responsibilities also include dismantling, repairing, rebuilding, and replacing equipment and components as needed, while strictly adhering to all plant safety policies. This position involves participation in plant-wide safety programs, housekeeping, Operational Excellence, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives, as well as providing assistance and guidance to junior maintenance staff. Other duties will be assigned as required.
This individual must prioritize tasks, minimize downtime, work independently, and demonstrate flexibility, proactivity, and decisiveness in all job-related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery, ensuring proper functionality before returning units to operation.
- Replace worn parts and confirm proper alignment through precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauge blocks.
- Utilize hydraulic and arbor presses for the removal and installation of press-fit components.
- Troubleshoot and repair low voltage wiring, typically 24VDC, alongside the installation of related components.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on high voltage wiring, including 110VAC, 220VAC, and 240/480VAC 3-phase systems, as well as installing necessary components.
- Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment as required to facilitate machine repairs.
- Fabricate replacement parts from provided drawings when necessary.
- Exhibit the ability to repair all Metal Forming, Metal Stamping, and Machine Shop equipment or appropriately seek assistance from experts when required.
- Document root causes and suggested corrective actions for premature wear or component failures.
- Collaborate with Engineering and other supervisory roles to resolve problems and discrepancies, submitting any identified drawing changes for review and correction.
- Engage in continuous improvement efforts by proactively identifying issues and offering solutions aimed at cost reduction and performance enhancement.
- Maintain equipment in excellent condition to mitigate negative environmental impacts.
- Promote waste minimization and energy conservation through reuse, recycling, and adherence to Environmental Management System practices.
Recommended Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- High voltage electrical certification is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of machine shop experience.
- A minimum of two years of industrial electrical experience.
- An Electrician License is preferred.
- Proficiency in using various precision measuring equipment.
- A mechanical background in machine repair is preferred.
- Ability to lift weights ranging from 50 to 100 lbs.
