Job description:

Job Goal: The role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment, with a focus on painting and cleaning projects as required. The individual will function as part of the facilities team, executing tasks according to specified instructions and established procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Buildings/Construction:
    • Repair and rebuild broken furniture.
    • Restore damaged door jams, staircases, and other wooden items within the agency.
    • Assist with new construction projects, including fences and buildings.
    • Fabricate and install shelving units, bulletin boards, and other assigned projects.
    • Replace or repair roofing materials as necessary.
    • Replace window panes and hardware as required.
    • Conduct plumbing repairs.
    • Perform electrical repairs.
    • Execute tile work and flooring repairs.
    • Complete finishing work, including drywall and painting.
    • Troubleshoot heating and cooling issues.
    • Install new doors and locking systems.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance.
    • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in an orderly and clean manner.
    • Report the need for additional supplies and equipment in a timely manner to ensure availability.
    • Maintain required work records and complete other written reports as needed.
    • Assist with moving office and residential furniture and provide repairs as requested by staff.
    • Help with the cleanup of areas damaged by residents and make temporary repairs as needed.
    • Undertake additional maintenance projects as assigned by the Facilities Foreman or Manager of Facilities.
    • Complete touch-up painting and cleaning tasks that fall outside the agency’s contracted services.
    • Navigate stairs to basements and second floors of residential buildings.
    • Share on-call availability for evening, night, or weekend hours to address emergencies that may result in greater damage, safety, or security issues.
    • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal and salting.
    • Conduct appliance repairs and rebuilds.
    • Execute small automotive repairs.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the facilities shop.
    • Conduct home inspections as required.
    • Assist with event setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
    • Operate agency vehicles, including backing up a trailer when necessary.
    • Ensure timely compliance with Quality Assurance standards related to the employee’s roles and functions.
    • Participate regularly in supervision and team meetings to share ideas, provide feedback, and engage in departmental planning.
    • Consistently maintain reliable attendance and adhere to a consistent work schedule during assigned hours to fulfill job duties.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency from a trade school.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous experience in maintenance work demonstrating proficiency in the areas mentioned above.
  • Familiarity with tools and common appliances and devices.
  • Solid understanding of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, and other technical aspects of maintenance.
  • Commitment to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and alignment with the agency’s goals and objectives.

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, with emergency on-call hours during nights and weekends, for either 40 hours or 20 hours variable.

Starting Range: $23-26 Hourly
