Job Purpose
This role is situated within the Facilities department at Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC (HDMA). This department manages our facilities, encompassing new construction, remodeling, utility management (electricity, compressed air, natural gas, water), building maintenance, and the replacement and enhancement of aging equipment. Our objective is to cultivate a facility that reflects our pride and meets customer needs effectively.

Role Description
Join a collaborative team dedicated to conducting preventative maintenance, repairs, and enhancements on facilities equipment, while adhering to a high standard of customer service in building, equipment, and utility operations. This position emphasizes the continuous development of associates’ skills through Honda’s maintenance training program, and actively seeks to incorporate innovative technologies and efficiency improvements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on systems and equipment (such as mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building controls). Execute daily work order tasks and communicate any necessary follow-up actions.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to equipment to enhance availability, capability, and yield, including proposing and revising preventive maintenance schedules for effective equipment upkeep.
  • Perform failure analysis on equipment, encompassing both preventative and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment-related issues.
  • Engage in a reliability-centered maintenance program for equipment and participate in team initiatives that enhance long-term reliability, supporting overall operational goals and objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and promote teamwork through effective work habits, communication, and the sharing of knowledge and expertise. Continuously enhance technical skills through formal training and on-the-job experiences. Participate in activities that foster innovation and leverage new methodologies and technologies to enhance our competitive edge.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience in equipment service.

Minimum Experience:

  • Preferred: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a facilities environment (industrial or heavy commercial). We are also open to considering well-qualified entry-level candidates.

Working Conditions

  • Engages in a high level of physical activity, including walking, climbing stairs, and working in varying climate conditions (hot/cold).
  • Involvement in Honda-related improvement activities, including the Honda Improvement Program (HIP).
  • Work environment encompasses both interior and exterior mechanical rooms, as well as manufacturing floor spaces.
  • May require occasional travel to other plants or suppliers (less than once a month).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production staff, equipment service personnel, and external contractors.
  • Open to suggesting improvements to facilities operations.
  • Capable of prioritizing work assignments and managing time efficiently.
  • Willingness to work weekends, various shifts, overtime, and during shutdowns as needed, typically working one weekend every three weeks.
  • Completion of the required ES Technical Development Program (TDP), which involves approximately 700 hours of classroom and hands-on training over a four-year period.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Honda’s Core Non-Exempt Role and Responsibilities for Maintenance Technician / Equipment Service (NE-1).
  • Initial training will take place on the first shift for approximately six months.
