Position Summary:
This full-time role operates from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with compensation ranging from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The position involves planning and executing activities designed for Independent Living residents, with a focus on life enrichment services that enhance independence and self-esteem through various physical, intellectual, creative, social, spiritual, and volunteer-oriented opportunities.
Job Duties:
- Oversee, plan, and execute special events, group activities, and outings for residents in Independent Living, including holiday decorations and party planning.
- Collaborate with fellow Resident Event Coordinators to develop and share a monthly calendar of events.
- Create and produce a monthly newsletter using office software, demonstrating strong technical skills and attention to detail.
- Assist with monthly budgeting based on the events calendar.
- Engage and coordinate with volunteers, both resident and external, to support activities.
- Procure supplies and materials necessary for all events and activities.
- Coordinate with transportation services to schedule bus transportation for events as needed.
- Communicate plans for activities to residents and staff, crafting descriptions for the events calendar.
- Lead both large and small group activities, collaborating with other staff members as required.
- Exhibit strong time management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, while demonstrating flexibility in approach and collaboration.
- Assess residents’ activity preferences and plan activities accordingly.
- Perform additional duties as instructed, noting that some events may take place after hours or on weekends.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information and the use of technology.
- Be responsible for welcoming and onboarding new employees.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma is required, along with prior experience working with older adults and/or individuals with dementia preferred. Applicants should possess strong time management, communication, public speaking, group management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in dynamic, potentially stressful situations.
Minimum Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in activity programming, education, or a related field is required.
