Job description:

The Automation Technician – Controls position is an entry-level role focused on supporting manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be involved in equipment implementation and startup, PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing process control systems. This role is essential to the manufacturing site, and the technician will be assigned to either the AM (6:00 AM – 6:10 PM) or PM (6:00 PM – 6:10 AM) shift, resulting in a rotating work schedule of 36/48 hours, including every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing equipment electrical, electronic, or controls systems.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering is preferred.
  • Candidates without a degree must possess at least five years of verifiable experience in a related field, such as Semiconductors or Automotive.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities efficiently.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL database tables and queries, as well as data collection processes and OPC protocols.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for manufacturing facilities, including remote assistance to worldwide manufacturing sites.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, problem-solve, and maintain all electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in coordinating new equipment installation and implementation, including MES integration events.
  • Maintain and update electrical drawings for manufacturing process tools, ensuring documentation of equipment changes.
  • Implement new software changes and upgrades as specified by the Controls Engineering Department.
  • Identify, research, document, and present solutions for control problems and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments across the organization.
  • Foster effective communication and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping standards.
