Job description:

The primary responsibility of this role is to produce high-quality parts by effectively operating all ram extrusion equipment and executing production jobs with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate all ram extrusion operations independently.
  • Fill hoppers with materials as required.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Cut, weigh, and record product and scrap materials as needed.
  • Trim and/or fabricate production parts as specified.
  • Enter Statistical Process Control (SPC) data into the computer system.
  • Prepare boxes and tubes for packaging and create appropriate labels.
  • Adjust vise, water, and heat settings as necessary.
  • Properly package and store parts and containers.
  • Understand and utilize the set-up sheet effectively.
  • Change and set up wind-up reels as required.
  • Use measuring tools, including measuring tape, calipers, average (pi) tapes, outside micrometers, and depth micrometers, correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work environment, including sweeping floors, mopping spills, and emptying refuse containers.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with the quality system.
  • Exhibit positive and supportive behavior in all interactions with colleagues, supervisors, managers, and customers.

Other Functions:

  • Perform limited die maintenance, including disassembly, reassembly, cleaning, and polishing.
  • Clean extruder barrels.
  • Set up and operate small machines, including but not limited to hot-stamp machines, saws, and drill presses.
  • Adjust extruder temperatures as necessary.

Non-Routine Tasks:

  • Load and unload delivery trucks as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic mathematics skills, including proficiency with fractions and decimals.

Experience/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondences, and memos. Proficient in writing basic correspondence and effectively presenting information to fellow employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Competence in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Capability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense to understand and execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram formats. Ability to address problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk, crouch, kneel, and lift weights exceeding 50 lbs. Requires the ability to reach with arms and manipulate machine parts. Communication through speech and hearing is essential for effective interaction with supervisors and team members.
