Job description:

Position compensation is set at $29.65 per hour.

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation and repair of production and manufacturing equipment. This role includes inspecting equipment to ensure proper functioning and conducting preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications. The mechanic will diagnose malfunctions, make necessary repairs or adjustments, and must possess their own hand tools.

The position requires consistent work in environments with heat, noise, gases, and chemicals, and involves frequent physical activity, including lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Repair any production equipment as needed.
  • Perform breakdown analysis to identify issues.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in work areas.
  • Upgrade production lines with new equipment and technology.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors on assigned projects.
  • Change equipment configurations for package changeovers.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety regulations, and audit standards.
  • Work independently with limited supervision, managing work tasks and documentation effectively.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must pass a technical assessment evaluating job-critical maintenance knowledge areas.
  • Experience with mechanical systems such as gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, and bearings.
  • Familiarity with product manuals for repair applications.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for mechanical breakdowns.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, including hydraulics and pneumatics.

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including starters, fuses, contacts, and relays.
  • Familiarity with compressors and ammonia systems for refrigeration.
  • Experience with conveyors and airveyors, including air cylinders, diverters, sensors, and motor/speed controls.
  • Knowledge of electrical installations, frequency drives, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electronics like level probes and flow meters.
  • Proficiency with gearing and gearboxes, including rebuilds and parts procurement.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting high-pressure cylinders, pumps, and valves.
  • Knowledge of kinematics, such as line speed and sprocket size ratios.
  • Experience with high-speed production packaging, including bottling and consumer products.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) in industrial maintenance.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting pneumatic systems, including solenoids and cylinders.
  • Experience using computerized preventative maintenance management systems.
  • Experience with pump maintenance, including troubleshooting and understanding specifications.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and electrical blueprints, including switches and relays.
  • Experience with servo systems and robotic motors.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • History of collaboration in team-based environments.
