Basic Job Functions:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of both existing and innovative laser scribing technologies on small and module scales.
  • Provide technological leadership to ensure timely and targeted delivery of device performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of module testing operations on the plant floor, prioritizing resources to optimize safety, quality, and throughput.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Science disciplines, or equivalent.
  • A Master’s or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of managerial experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Over 8 years of experience in technology development within the photovoltaic, semiconductor, or related industries.
  • Proven experience in the continuous improvement of technology products is required.
  • Experience in scaling up new technology products is desirable.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong capabilities in experiment planning and prioritization.
  • Ability to assess experimental risks, scopes, and timelines, and plan accordingly.
  • In-depth understanding of solid-state device physics and thin-film polycrystalline technology.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, organization, leadership, and coordination of all continuous process improvement activities in alignment with the product roadmap.

  • Supervise and inspire a team of associates, fostering a culture of personal responsibility and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with process engineering, equipment engineering, and operations teams.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring adherence to financial objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with program goals and timelines.
  • Integrate Failure Analysis (FA), material and device characteristics, and process data to identify mechanisms and root causes of failures and their impact on film and device properties.
  • Participate in cross-functional team reviews.
  • Engage with stakeholders to fulfill manufacturing, quality, and reliability requirements.
  • Uphold all safety protocols and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to the Development Director or Head of Development.
  • Will have direct reports.

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $127,700 – $175,000 annually.

US Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for the duration of a shift.
  • Occasional stair climbing.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 27 pounds on occasion.
