Summary of Position:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and efficient cooking of meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products, as well as the preparation and portioning of food items prior to cooking. This role also encompasses various tasks related to food and final plate preparation, including the plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu items.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a diverse range of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using various kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers.
  • Assume full responsibility for the quality of all products served.
  • Consistently adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies and procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service.
  • Portion food products according to standard serving sizes and recipe specifications prior to cooking.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation at the work station, including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection ovens, flat-top ranges, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Prepare items for various cooking methods (broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing) by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating.
  • Follow established guidelines for plate presentation and garnishing for all dishes.
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate all food products.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks during off-peak periods as required.
  • Ensure the kitchen is closed properly, adhering to the closing checklist for all kitchen stations, and assist colleagues as necessary.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or the manager on duty.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, kitchen staff, and dining personnel.
  • Capability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 9 hours).
