We have an exciting opportunity for part-time Cook positions at Culinaire, located at the Detroit Institute of Art, 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202. Please note that only online applications are accepted.

Job Summary: The Cook will prepare food in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, regulations, and established policies and procedures, ensuring high-quality food service is consistently provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality food items per standardized recipes and instructions to meet production and service timelines.
- Serve meals or prepare for delivery, ensuring appropriate portioning, temperature, and presentation of food, including tasting all prepared items.
- Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain records for the area worked.
- Uphold cleanliness standards by thoroughly cleaning the kitchen after preparation and service, appropriately storing or discarding excess food following safe food-handling practices.
- Maintain neat and organized refrigerators and storerooms, ensuring food and supplies are stored in accordance with standards.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as necessary.
- Aid in the ordering and receiving process for all food and supplies as required.
- Report maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor promptly.
- Attend in-service and safety meetings.
- Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
- Perform all tasks safely while adhering to a clean and secure work environment.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned and ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures in accordance with HACCP standards.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal safety and the safety of others.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
- Utilizing medium weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, or cleaning slicers.
- Employing oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot cookware.
- Wearing slip-resistant shoes and applying proper lifting techniques.
