We currently have an opening for part-time Cook positions at the Detroit Institute of Art, located at 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202. Please note that we accept online applications exclusively.

Job Summary: This position involves preparing food in alignment with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations, adhering to established policies and procedures. Ensuring high-quality food service is a fundamental aspect of this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions, meeting production, delivery, and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare for delivery, utilizing correct portioning and ensuring that food is presented attractively and served at the appropriate temperature. All food items must be tasted prior to serving.
- Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain accurate records for the service area.
- Clean the kitchen post-preparation and service, upholding high standards of cleanliness, and store or discard excess food following safe food-handling procedures.
- Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized, ensuring food and supply items are appropriately stored.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
- Participate in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as necessary.
- Report maintenance needs, equipment malfunctions, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Attend all in-service and safety meetings.
- Cultivate a positive working relationship with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while performing job duties.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Ensure proper presentation and portion control while adhering to HACCP standards.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to your safety and that of others.
