Job description:

Synchrony’s Identity and Access Management Team is dedicated to enhancing privileged access security through advanced controls and technologies. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and execution of strategies and roadmaps pertaining to privileged identity and access management tools and processes.

As a crucial part of our infrastructure, Synchrony’s privileged technologies safeguard critical access across application and infrastructure environments. The Assistant Vice President of Privileged Technology Engineering will collaborate with our team to establish a long-term strategy, implement, integrate, and manage Synchrony’s Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions. This role requires close cooperation with business partners on strategic Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives and corporate-wide programs, acting as a thought leader in the field.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, engineer, deploy, configure, and document privileged access management solutions in collaboration with application architects, lead engineers, product teams, information security, and risk management departments.
  • Develop automation processes to build, test, deploy, and maintain privileged access management solutions in accordance with DevOps practices.
  • Provide in-depth subject matter expertise regarding privileged platform services, configuration, and best practices to refine Synchrony’s privileged access management strategy and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Build and integrate the necessary operational support framework to deliver enterprise-ready services for new technologies.
  • Promote operational and technical excellence in privileged processes and technologies by leveraging performance and availability metrics.
  • Manage and maintain the configuration of privileged platforms to meet business requirements, support application integrations, comply with regulations, and fulfill other platform responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues while ensuring alignment with key business objectives.
  • Identify, propose, and address process and technical gaps within Synchrony’s Privileged Identity Management (PIM) services.
  • Coordinate on-call coverage on a rotational basis with team members to address, triage, and resolve high-priority incidents outside of regular hours.
  • Train, mentor, and guide team members on existing and new processes.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of IT experience; or a High School Diploma/GED with eight years of IT experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in privileged identity and access management tools.
  • At least three years of development experience in support of access management solutions.
  • Experience in the development and operational support of privileged technologies, including platform implementation, installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Experience in the development and operational support of privileged processes, including policy formulation and vaulting administration.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a technical discipline, or Business Management.
  • Proficiency with Delinea Secret Server and Delinea Privilege Manager.
  • Familiarity with Secrets Management Tools (e.g., HashiCorp, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault).
  • Proven track record in designing, building, and administering 24/7 enterprise customer-facing services.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and a proactive, flexible approach.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead teams through organizational change.
  • Experience creating and reviewing operational process and end-user training documentation.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Understanding of financial security and regulatory compliance standards, including SOX IT-404, PCI, and FFIEC.
  • Ability to synthesize input from diverse stakeholders and translate complex business and technical requirements into effective security solutions.

This position has a salary range of $95,000.00 to $160,000.00 USD annually, along with eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Compensation will be contingent upon work experience, skill level, or knowledge and may be adjusted according to market standards for California, New York Metro, and Seattle.
