Position Purpose:
As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play a critical role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that products reach their destinations on time and in excellent condition, embodying the face of our company and nurturing lasting relationships with our customers.

The Hourly CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. This role involves safely delivering and unloading food and food-related products in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, and serve as a collaborative team member to fulfill the organization’s goals.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post-trip) and inspecting vehicles and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Addressing any safety issues and necessary repairs promptly.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company driving guidelines.
– Reporting safety hazards immediately and ensuring proper loading and securing of freight.
– Performing item count checks and verifying customer invoices of loaded products, completing all necessary paperwork accurately and legibly.
– Positioning the tractor at loading docks as needed and following predetermined delivery routes to timely deliver customer orders.
– Unloading products into designated customer storage areas and confirming delivery by obtaining necessary signatures.
– Handling customer returns and ensuring that trailers and equipment are securely locked.
– Unloading damaged goods and managing waste appropriately while maintaining a clean environment in the truck and dock areas.
– Completing daily logs in alignment with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Performing general housekeeping duties and securing all equipment and paperwork at the end of the shift.
– Executing additional related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience.
– Valid CDL-A and compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements as applicable.
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Successful passing of a road test.
– Attainment of a valid DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
– Capacity to hand-lift and operate equipment to move product cases weighing between 10 to 35 pounds, and potentially up to 90 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
– High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
– At least 1 year of experience in foodservice distribution.
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Experience using hand-held point-of-delivery scanning systems.
– Background in customer service-related positions.
