Job description:

Hourly Wage: $15.50 – $17.00 per hour

Dietary Cook:

At Vancrest, we recognize that dining is a vital aspect of life. Our goal is to offer an exceptional dining experience paired with nutritionally balanced meals for each resident.

Responsibilities of the Cook include:

  • Reviewing menus prior to the preparation of meals.
  • Inspecting special diet trays to ensure accuracy.
  • Managing administrative tasks such as completing necessary forms and reports, and submitting them to the Director of Food Services.
  • Coordinating dietary services with other departments as needed.
  • Collaborating with the facility’s Dietician, Dietetic Technician, and other supervisors to implement recommended dietary changes.
  • Ensuring compliance with established dietary procedures and policies.
  • Assisting in the establishment of the food service production line to guarantee timely meal preparation.
  • Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services, with approval from the Director of Food Service.
  • Performing dishwashing and cleaning duties, ensuring that utensils and equipment are readily available for the next meal.
  • Assisting with inventory management and storage of incoming food supplies, along with other duties as assigned.

Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager.
