Job Description:

The Security Department is charged with ensuring the safety and security of the Daybreak grounds and facility. This includes implementing security protocols related to weapons, visitation, and violence, in collaboration with Daybreak staff. The Safety Manual should also be referenced in all related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staff the front desk in the reception area continuously, except during planned breaks or emergencies. Ensure the desk area is secure when away to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Actively monitor surveillance cameras and promptly notify relevant staff of any suspicious or questionable activities for investigation.
  • Distribute panic alarms to staff and meticulously track their locations to facilitate rapid responses.
  • Investigate alarm activations and communicate the nature of the incidents to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a comprehensive log of all visitors, alerting staff so visitors can be greeted and escorted to their respective appointments or groups.
  • Keep detailed records of volunteers, issuing and documenting volunteer badges upon entry and exit.
  • Record visitor tag issuance including date, time, and visitor details, as well as the time of departure and the return of the tag.
  • Inspect visitor identification, belongings, and monitor clients before facility entry, as needed.
  • Confiscate and tag contraband according to the established policies, ensuring proper notification of staff and secure storage or transportation of items.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and adhere to relevant policies, including those concerning security, visitation, weapons, violence, and safety protocols. Actively participate in safety drills and collaborate with staff to develop safety plans.
  • Complete all required training as mandated by Daybreak.
  • Follow directives from staff regarding client interactions on-site.
  • Ensure facility and staff security by contacting law enforcement when necessary and complying with police directives.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor at all times, maintaining appropriate boundaries with staff, clients, and visitors (e.g., refraining from smoking or casual conversation with clients).
  • Keep the office area organized and assist with security management during special events, if applicable.
  • Foster positive neighborhood relations and uphold the agency’s reputation by adhering to high professional and ethical standards.

Education and Experience:
