Responsibilities:
We seek a passionate and energetic racquets professional to lead lessons, manage daily club operations, and support engaging events such as tournaments, junior camps, and mixers. Collaborating closely with the Head Pro and Director, you will deliver top-tier instruction, coordinate programs, and foster a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere for players of all ages, ensuring members return year after year.

Mission Statement:
The Racquets Department aims to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the needs of our membership while maintaining a consistent level of service that meets or exceeds expectations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Teaching / Instructional Program

  • Conduct engaging lessons, clinics, and team practice sessions for both members and children.
  • Partner with the Head Racquets Professional to plan, implement, and oversee all instructional programs and lesson plans, including the Junior Racquets Program, “Intra-Club” League Program, Summer Racquets Camp, and Junior Development Instructional Program.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate processing of member billing for all junior program lessons, intra-club leagues, special events, tournaments, and social gatherings.
  • Supervise the hiring and coordination of part-time instructors for the Summer Racquets Camp Program.
  • Collaborate with the Director to develop an annual Junior Racquets Calendar of Events.

Events & Programs

  • Assist in organizing member tournaments, mixers, and other special events.
  • Support members in identifying suitable teams for league play to enhance their experience and foster enduring connections.
  • Communicate member inquiries regarding league teams or interests to the Director.
  • Observe and provide tailored feedback to members during league play, enhancing practices and clinics.

Operations

  • Serve as the “Manager on Duty,” overseeing all tasks completed by part-time staff.
  • Prepare materials for the club newsletter and monthly updates to the club website.
  • Assist with staffing the Pro Shop Front Desk and Racquets Pavilion as needed.
  • Aid in the daily opening of facilities, ensuring court preparation, restroom maintenance and stocking, and checks on the pavilion, patio, and walkways.

Qualifications:
What You Need for this Position

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in sports science, physical education, or related fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of tennis playing experience; prior coaching or teaching experience is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of tennis rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Certification from USPTA, PTR, or equivalent is preferred; willingness to obtain certification is also acceptable.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse age groups.
  • Physically capable of demonstrating techniques and participating in drills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Exhibits reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work on tennis courts and adapt to varying weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends, based on lesson and event requirements.
