We are currently seeking an Athletics Event Assistant for the upcoming Spring season to join our Athletics Department.
Job Summary:
The Athletics Event Assistant will provide crucial administrative and operational support to the athletic director and coaching staff. This role includes assisting with event management and ensuring the seamless execution of athletic events at Harrison High School.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Game and Event Management:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of athletic events, including facility and entry gate setup and management of ticket sales.
- Collaborate with event management personnel, such as ticket takers, scorekeepers, security staff, and concession operations, during athletic events.
- Support game-day management by preparing the field or court.
- Liaise with event personnel, including sideline and press box staff, and officials.
- Oversee pre-game proceedings to ensure events commence as scheduled and conclude smoothly.
- Assist with first aid and emergency procedures during events.
- At the conclusion of events, secure all doors and gates, turn off electronics and lights, return equipment to the Athletic Director’s office, and report results to the Athletic Director.
Communication and Promotion:
- Act as a key point of contact for coaches, athletes, parents, and other stakeholders, relaying information and addressing inquiries and issues.
- Utilize media and social media platforms to disseminate game updates and final results.
- Coordinate with the press box regarding halftime promotions and recognitions.
- Communicate logistics to home and away coaching staff and officials concerning meeting spaces pre-game, halftime, and post-game.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Assist student-athletes by providing information, resolving issues, and promoting their well-being.
- Help ensure that coaches adhere to school policies and athletic regulations.
- Report facility issues to the Athletic Director for maintenance.
- Complete incident reports related to inappropriate spectator behavior.
- Enforce general security procedures, including post-game protocols and strategies to ensure safety for participants, officials, and fans. All security procedures should be reviewed with security personnel.
- Comply with all district and state policies related to high school athletic programs.
Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of state and league athletic rules and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in navigating and troubleshooting various technology programs utilized by the Athletic Department.
Education and Experience:
- Valid Ohio Pupil Activity Permit.
- Experience in coaching or athletic administration at the high school level.
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public, simplifying complex messages and problems/solutions.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Ohio Pupil Activity Permit, Driver’s License.
Other Skills and Abilities:
