Position Details:

– Base pay is $28/hour, complemented by additional component pay based on job efficiency.

Position Purpose:

As a Driver, Hourly CDL-A, you will play a vital role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customers receive their products at the scheduled times and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our company and fostering lasting relationships with our customers.

You will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for intrastate and interstate local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) routes, as well as shuttle and overnight drives. This includes delivering and unloading food and food-related products safely and in a timely manner, complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure inquiries are addressed accurately and promptly. Additionally, you will function as an integral team member and perform any assignments that best serve the company.

Key Responsibilities:

– Conduct all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) and inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations; address any safety concerns as necessary.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies at all times.
– Promptly report any safety hazards and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
– Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for accuracy.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed.
– Follow predetermined delivery routes to fulfill customer orders, unloading products at designated storage areas.
– Execute damage control checks, scan items, and consult with supervisors regarding policy on returns.
– Verify delivery accuracy with customers and secure proper signatures; collect payment where required.
– Load customer returns onto the trailer and ensure all freight is secured.
– Manage the unloading of damaged goods and customer returns, completing associated paperwork.
– Maintain accurate daily records of hours worked in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
– Secure all equipment and complete necessary documentation at the end of the shift.
– Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
– Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience
– Valid CDL-A license
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable)
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years
– Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check
– Passing of road test
– Valid current DOT Health Card, or ability to obtain one
– Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move cases of varying size and weight, with weights generally ranging from 10-35 pounds, and up to 60-90 pounds depending on the location.

Preferred Qualifications:

– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
– Over 1 year of experience in foodservice distribution
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet)
– Experience with handheld delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
