Cook
Status: Full-time, 40 hours weekly.
Schedule: Monday to Sunday with variable weekends required.
Day Shift: 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Starting at $16.00 per hour.
Job Summary
We seek a dedicated and passionate Cook to elevate our culinary offerings for patients, guests, and fellow team members. As a vital contributor to our kitchen operations, you will play an essential role in the preparation and execution of a diverse menu. Your responsibilities will encompass line cooking, prep cooking, vegetable preparation, short-order cooking, catering, and mise en place.
Essential Functions
- Prepare hot food using various cooking methods, including frying, baking, broiling, braising, and grilling.
- Prepare soups, cereals, eggs, entrees, vegetables, and additional food items as required.
- Monitor and adjust food quantities based on customer counts or volume requirements.
- Assemble and prepare ingredients by cleaning and cutting as necessary.
- Adhere to standardized recipes, accurately calculating ingredient measurements by weight and volume.
- Maintain food quality, presentation, and temperature, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Accurately record temperatures on required logs and replace any food items that do not meet quality standards.
- Store food items according to requirements, ensuring proper labeling and dating.
- Effectively utilize leftovers within the designated time frame.
- Set up steam tables on patient and cafeteria tray lines.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in food preparation or service.
- CRT-ServSafe Allergen – National Restaurant Association certification (within 90 days).
- CRT-ServSafe Handler – National Restaurant Association certification (within 90 days) -OR-
- CRT-ServSafe Manager – National Restaurant Association certification (within 90 days).
Preferred
- Completion of vocational/technical courses in food preparation.
- A course lasting between sixteen weeks to one year in baking education and cake decorating techniques.
