Position Details:
– Compensation starts at $27 per hour, with a $7,000 Sign-On Bonus.
– This is a full-time position for a company driver.
– The schedule operates at night, with dispatch times between 2 PM and 7 PM.
– Drivers follow routes that allow for daily home return.

Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a vital role in the national food supply chain. They ensure that products arrive at designated destinations on time and in excellent condition, while also representing our company and building lasting customer relationships.

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for various local and long-distance routes. This role involves delivering and/or unloading food and related products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Effective communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers is essential to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries. The driver will collaborate as a team member within the organization and undertake any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting all necessary safety checks (pre/post-trip) and performing inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, and reporting any safety issues or required repairs.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company driving safety policies.
– Reporting safety hazards immediately and ensuring that trailers are correctly loaded and secured.
– Performing item count checks and reviewing customer invoices for accuracy, completing all requisite paperwork legibly.
– Maneuvering the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Delivering customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule, unloading products, and placing them in designated storage areas.
– Conducting damage assessments on items, scanning products, and notifying supervisors about potential order removals per company policy. Verifying deliveries with customers and obtaining necessary signatures, as well as collecting payments when applicable.
– Loading customer returns onto the trailer and ensuring trailer doors are secured. Maintaining security for the tractor, trailer, and freight.
– Handling damaged goods and returns appropriately and completing necessary paperwork upon return to the check-in area.
– Keeping a daily log of service hours in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company guidelines.
– Maintaining housekeeping standards in the truck, loading dock area, and ensuring trailers are kept clear and clean. Securing all equipment and completing required paperwork at the end of the shift.
– Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– A minimum of one year of experience driving a tractor-trailer.
– Valid CDL-A and compliance with all state licensing/certification requirements (where applicable).
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successful completion of post-offer drug tests and criminal background checks.
– Passing a road test.
– Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid DOT Health Card.
– Capacity to hand-lift and use equipment such as a two-wheeler or lift gate for moving and stacking product cases/freight, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds to a maximum of approximately 60-90 pounds based on location.

Preferred Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– Over one year of experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
– Familiarity with onboard computers and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Experience with handheld point-of-delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
