Position Overview:

As an Optical Technician, you will contribute to delivering a world-class Total Patient Experience while also maximizing retail sales and supporting the medical needs of our patients. This role involves dispensing and fitting eyewear based on prescriptions provided by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, effectively linking patient requirements with the products and services we offer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a superior Total Patient Experience by establishing strong relationships with patients and providing exceptional medical support.
  • Identify patient needs and preferences, exceeding their expectations through tailored sales approaches.
  • Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, facial measurements, and optical prescriptions.
  • Proficiently operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers.
  • Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and frame selections to meet their individual needs.
  • Accurately collect essential measurements, including bridge size, eye size, temple length, segment heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
  • Dispense glasses and contact lens orders, as well as repair and adjust frames as necessary.
  • Ensure a welcoming atmosphere by greeting patients in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Maintain organized and well-presented frame displays, ensuring compliance with inventory protocols.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and adapting to industry advancements.
  • Contribute positively to the work environment by being collaborative and patient-focused.
  • Be adaptable to scheduling needs, which may include weekends and varying hours.
  • Adhere to all safety policies while striving for high-quality service and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform additional tasks as required in support of organizational objectives.

Patient Population:

The Optical Technician will interact with a diverse patient demographic, encompassing individuals of all ages, races, and genders.

Educational and Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management is preferred.
  • ABO and NCLE certifications are advantageous, though not mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred, with particular emphasis on ophthalmic experience.
  • A minimum of one year in a customer service role or a combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Successful completion of a background check as required by state regulations.
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States is required.
