CNC Mill/Turn Machine Operator – BWX Technologies, Inc. – Euclid, OH
The CNC Mill/Turn Machine Operator will set up, operate, and inspect multiple conversational and CNC Mill machining centers, performing functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, tapping, reaming, boring, and deburring on both alloy and non-alloy workpieces.

Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate various machines and machining centers.
- Read, interpret, and adhere to complex blueprints, operating sheets, procedures, sketches, and related technical data to ascertain tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methodologies.
- Mount, align, position, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on machines.
- Enter commands for input, output, or retrieval of preprogrammed instructions from databases.
- Calculate, set, and adjust machine controls to position spindles relative to workpieces and manage factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
- Input, either through automatic download or manually, all Statistical Process Control (SPC) and measurement-related information as defined by the engineering community to establish and maintain process controls.
- Operate machines while monitoring displays and operation to identify malfunctions or deviations.
- Oversee machining operations, adjusting cutting tools and setups as required and measuring parts to ensure conformity with blueprint specifications.
- Enter commands or make manual adjustments to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Operate machines manually to carry out non-automated functions or address machine malfunctions.
- Utilize a variety of precision inspection equipment to verify all relevant features using appropriate inspection methods.
- Maintain logs or records, discussing control media errors with supervision and engineering/programming personnel to address issues.
- Conduct daily machine maintenance and housekeeping tasks, including monitoring and adjusting oil and coolant levels and cleaning machinery and surrounding areas.
- Operate handling equipment such as pendant cranes, motorized and manual pallet jacks, and box dollies for logistical support.
- Assist fellow operators by training them in proper operational procedures and job-related tasks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines as mandated by the local Environmental Health and Safety department.
- Collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment with both hourly and salaried employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC Mill/Turn Centers; completion of an accredited training program is also considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Capability to demonstrate skills on a test piece if necessary.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to demonstrate CNC control capabilities, including editing speeds, feeds, and offsets.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, procedures, and work instructions.
- Skill in using various measuring instruments, including dial bore gauges, indicator snap gauges, Verniers, and .0001 micrometers.
- Competence in maintaining accurate documentation.
- Ability to operate a pendant crane and both motorized and manual pallet jacks and box dollies.
- Competence in rigging parts weighing 5 to 1000 lbs.
- Required to possess personal tools.
- Flexibility to work any shift (2nd shift: 3 PM – 11 PM; 3rd shift: 11 PM – 7 AM).
The starting pay for this position in Ohio is $41.46 per hour. The total compensation package may include a comprehensive range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
