This position offers an annual salary ranging from $85,000 to $90,000, with an early morning schedule from Monday to Friday. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is also offered.

Position Purpose:
The role of food and food service delivery drivers is vital to maintaining the integrity of the country’s food supply chain. Delivering products on time and in optimal condition, our drivers embody our company’s values and are instrumental in building enduring customer relationships.

The driver will operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck along intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and timely delivery and unloading of food and food-related products in adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Professionally communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, performing assigned duties to effectively serve the company.
  • Conduct all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Report all safety issues and required repairs promptly.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety driving guidelines.
  • Immediately report any safety hazards, inspecting trailers for secure and properly loaded freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork associated with freight in a legible manner.
  • Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Drive to deliver customer orders per the predetermined route schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated storage areas as specified by the customer.
  • Conduct damage control checks on items, scan, and consult with the supervisor about order removals in accordance with company policy.
  • Confirm item delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) as required, securing customer returns on the trailer.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are properly locked and secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete required paperwork, and remove trash from trailers as necessary.
  • Maintain daily records of hours of service, accurately logging them in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Execute general housekeeping duties for the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clear and clean as required.
  • At shift’s end, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma, GED, or state-approved equivalent.
  • Valid CDL A.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements (as applicable).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Passing of a road test.
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure a new one.
  • Capacity to hand-lift and utilize two-wheelers, lift gates, and other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of various sizes and weights, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the specific location.
