This role in summary
Our Ottawa Manufacturing team is seeking a Back Shop Set Up and Operator responsible for changing over, setting up, and operating shelf welders, pizza gate welders, nibblers, and unloading finished products. This position requires adherence to the production schedule and maintaining machine operation at designated cycle times.

Compensation: $24.40 per hour

Your responsibilities will include:
– Executing repetitive tasks on semi-automatic equipment, operating machinery, and making adjustments to minimize scrap and downtime.
– Conducting daily first-off and hourly checks for visual quality and compliance with specified print dimensions during production runs.
– Regularly inspecting all safety devices and ensuring a safe work environment to prevent injuries to oneself, coworkers, and equipment.
– Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as rectifying bends in rods or correcting weld imperfections, and maintaining cleanliness and lubrication of the equipment, including changing out weld blocks.
– Carrying out regular housekeeping duties to ensure a well-organized work environment.
– Carefully loading and unloading machines with a tow motor to avoid damaging equipment and products.
– Maintaining accurate counts and documentation of produced items.
– Demonstrating proficiency in operating a tow motor, hand tools, wire/rod straighteners and cutters, as well as shelf and pizza gate welding machines and nibblers.
– Adhering to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and 5S guidelines.
– Following standard work protocols to ensure efficiency and quality.
– Performing additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Minimum requirements:
– High School Diploma/GED.
– Candidates must be 18 years or older.
– Ability to effectively communicate safety information and job instructions.
– Proficient in setting up, adjusting, and changing over equipment.
– Familiarity with special tools, gauges, charts, and print specifications.
– Demonstrated judgment in making quality-related decisions.
– Previous forklift operation experience.

Preferred skills and experiences:
– A minimum of 6 months of manufacturing work experience.
– At least 1 year of consistent work experience in a relevant role.
