What You’ll Work On

  • Employing advanced scientific techniques for microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental monitoring, ensuring the suitability of all manufactured products.
  • Completing requisite documentation, auditing, and releasing commodities or products.
  • Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, including tasks such as autoclaving, waste disposal, and general sanitation.
  • Preparing media for various testing procedures.
  • Demonstrating accountability for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance by actively engaging with Abbott’s EHS Program.
  • Collaborating with fellow technicians while exhibiting high motivation, attention to detail, and clear communication, as each team member plays a critical role in our operations.
  • Executing laboratory tests as directed by manuals and training protocols.
  • Identifying and resolving issues when test results fall outside specifications, determining root causes and ruling out laboratory errors.

This position requires strict adherence to applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, and Abbott regulations, policies, and procedures.

Shift
This position operates from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM on a rotating schedule, allowing for every other weekend off.
SCHEDULE EXAMPLE:
WEEK 1: WORK: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
DAYS OFF: Wednesday and Thursday.
WEEK 2: WORK: Wednesday and Thursday: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
DAYS OFF: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday through Sunday.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of at least one year of relevant college science coursework with laboratory experience (biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, organic chemistry, or biochemistry).
  • One year of college mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a science-related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Prior experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
