Basic Job Functions:
The primary responsibilities include assisting in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshooting daily manufacturing challenges, and identifying or implementing system improvements that contribute to achieving throughput, yield, and product performance objectives. This role will involve supporting the operation of pilot-line equipment to define new processes, followed by the transition to start-up, qualification, and implementation of the new production processes, ultimately evolving into a standard production MET position.

Experience & Education:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with one of the following qualifications:
    • An Associate’s degree in a technical discipline
    • A minimum of 2 years of machine or mechanical experience as a primary job function
    • One year of technical experience with First Solar
    • Six months of experience as a Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Address day-to-day production, equipment, and process issues
  • Identify and implement improvements in yield and product performance
  • Develop methods for attributing causes to yield excursions
  • Set up and maintain gauges
  • Ensure all processes operate within targets defined by the Process Control Plan
  • Respond to SPC process control alarms and restore processes to control
  • Execute planned process experiments, collect and analyze data, and report findings
  • Monitor daily tool and associated product performance data
  • Provide training to production associates
  • Develop and update internal documentation, including drawings, standard operating procedures, and process specifications
  • Collaborate with internal associates and supplier representatives as necessary to complete assigned projects
  • Achieve a comprehensive understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems
  • Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers
  • Disposition non-conforming products according to established criteria (NCP)
  • Adhere to safety procedures and good housekeeping standards
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials in designated containers
  • Maintain closure of hazardous waste containers, except when adding or removing waste
  • Ensure satellite accumulation containers are situated in designated locations

Estimated Salary Range:
$18.89 – $26.44 per hour

US Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day
  • Occasional climbing of stairs
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, push, or pull infrequently
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 27 pounds
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, lifting, handling, carrying, or feeling objects
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
  • Compliance with all safety standards and procedures is mandatory
