In this role, you will serve as the culinary leader and chef of Masa & Agave. You will be responsible for planning and overseeing the kitchen staff in the procurement, production, preparation, and presentation of all food served in the hotel, ensuring a safe and sanitary working environment that adheres to all relevant standards and regulations while delivering competitive and high-quality products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily food production, preparation, and presentation for the hotel’s restaurant(s) and room service, ensuring compliance with HEI Franchise standards.
  • Manage human resources in the kitchen, focusing on attracting, retaining, and motivating staff while maintaining a safe work environment. This includes interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, developing, coaching, and conducting performance and salary reviews, as well as making recommendations for discipline and termination when necessary.
  • Schedule and supervise the maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and related areas to ensure compliance with federal, state, corporate, and franchise standards.
  • Monitor, analyze, and control labor and food costs; prepare reports and schedules to meet or exceed budget goals while maintaining quality.
  • Promote the Accident Prevention Program to minimize liabilities and related costs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef in the creation, costing, and implementation of seasonal and special menus.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Chef in their absence.
  • Maintain regular attendance and availability to work consistently.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of two years of post-high school education; culinary education is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in a related position.
  • Experience in a hotel setting is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of food service principles and practices, including food and beverage management and associate management.
  • Familiarity with hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, labor relations, business plan preparation, and budget forecasting.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and ensure the achievement of departmental goals.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and manage deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit varied audiences.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 Annually
