This physically demanding position entails the hand assembly of pallets for both bulk and route trucks. Accuracy in order fulfillment is essential for loading outgoing trucks and unloading incoming shipments. The incumbent will utilize an electronic order system or order sheets to construct loads, employing a forklift and/or electronic pallet jack. The role requires meticulous attention to detail in order to ensure compliance with shipper and receiver documentation. Adherence to warehouse protocols for load building is mandatory. Employees are expected to uphold a clean and safe working environment. The position may necessitate working in diverse weather conditions and involves variable shift durations based on workload.
Responsibilities include:
– Loading transport trucks by moving full pallets of products from the warehouse to the trailer, as well as returning pallets and plastic flats.
– Loading bulk trucks by selecting specific packages and flavors from the warehouse, ensuring pallet stability through proper stacking and shrink-wrapping, with a focus on local delivery.
– Loading route trucks by selecting designated packages and pallets, customized based on salespersons’ orders, and managing the return of products and pallets.
This role requires lifting numerous cases of product, typically between 20 to 45 pounds each, throughout an extended work period, involving continual standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
– Operate power pallet jacks or forklifts to navigate to the picking area and build pallets or loads according to load sheets or voice pick audio devices (if applicable).
– Document out-of-stock items on load tickets.
– Securely wrap pallets upon completion.
– Submit paperwork for order verification prior to loading and ensure truck readiness by checking thoroughly.
– Stage pallets and load them into trucks when prepared.
– Finish partial pallets and organize mixed pallets appropriately.
– Maintain high housekeeping standards in the workspace.
– Exhibit regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
– Must be at least 18 years of age.
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
– Prior experience in a warehouse setting, including roles such as order selector/picker, product storage, and product staging, is advantageous.
– Forklift operation experience, including basic maneuvers such as driving forwards and backwards, lifting and lowering loads, and maneuvering in confined spaces without product damage.
– Familiarity with racking systems and the loading/unloading processes of pallets, including effective vertical product stacking.
– Experience in collaborative team environments, emphasizing cooperation and joint problem-solving.
