Job description:

The Maintenance Technician is accountable for the repair and maintenance of both equipment and facility systems. This role encompasses planned and predictive maintenance as well as responses to breakdown repairs.

Shift: C Team, 6 PM – 6 AM, 1-3-3 – Building 3
Starting Hourly Rate: $26.40/hr plus a $2/hr shift differential

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately locate and diagnose equipment failures, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting utilizing standard equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, specifications, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Repair and maintain a variety of machinery and mechanical systems, including pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems, and production machinery, using testing instruments, hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Execute various functions related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment for power generation, distribution, and utilization, including circuit testing and the replacement or installation of new electrical circuits.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, inspect circuits and wiring for proper shielding and grounding, and evaluate electrical equipment for safety and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct repairs on complex electrical equipment, such as motors, switches, switchboards, automated machines, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, and communication systems.
  • Manage complex wiring assignments and install electrical conduit with precision.
  • Work from schematics, drawings, and layouts to identify and rectify issues within electrical systems or equipment efficiently.
  • Employ improvisation where necessary to provide immediate solutions for operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with engineers in diagnosing problems and recommending corrective actions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating equipment, and inspect the quality of completed repairs.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations for shop equipment inspection and maintenance.
  • Prepare new machinery and production equipment for operational readiness.
  • Follow a strict preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
  • Order and requisition replacement parts as needed.
  • Report shift metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement, including breakdowns and part availability.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance and repair logs.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment in both the shop and production areas.
  • Promote safe working practices for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Participate in general housekeeping tasks and assist other departments as needed.
  • Continuously assess existing processes to identify and implement improvements that enhance product quality and reduce waste.
  • Support team members in achieving departmental and site objectives.
  • Engage in team decision-making and provide assistance on special projects as required.
  • Aid the production team in delivering high-quality materials that exceed client expectations.
  • Conduct painting, masonry, plumbing fixture repairs, and woodwork.
  • Oversee or assist in the maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Supervise janitorial services and grounds maintenance activities as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Trade School Certification or Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent journeyman-level training and experience preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as an Industrial Electrician or Multi-Craft (Electrical and Mechanical) Maintenance Technician is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of:

    • Plant utility systems maintenance and operations
    • Industrial machine repair and reliability techniques
    • Machine tool functions and electrical systems including 3-phase and control power
    • Relay logic, DC drives, and PLC systems
    • Evaluation methods for electrical equipment using various testing instruments.
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
