Job Purpose and Overview
As a Baker, you will play an integral role within our kitchen team by preparing a diverse array of baked goods, including cupcakes, pies, cookies, donuts, and cakes. Key responsibilities include weighing and measuring ingredients, mixing, frying, baking, and decorating pastries. Additionally, you will assist in receiving and organizing deliveries and maintaining organized, clean storage and work areas. Adhering to local health and sanitation regulations is essential to ensure a safe and hygienic work environment.

Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements
This position is based onsite at the Dawn Foods Innovation Studio in Jackson, MI, with a regular schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Some flexibility will be required for early mornings, events, or other business-related needs.

Key Responsibilities as a Baker at Dawn Foods:

• Complete the finishing touches on products (e.g., filling or icing donuts or pastries, decorating cakes or cupcakes)
• Bake a variety of products (e.g., cakes, laminated doughs, pastries)
• Fry products such as donuts and pastries
• Operate professional bakery equipment, including scales, commercial mixers, ovens, and proof boxes
• Maintain a clean, presentable, and hygienic working environment throughout the kitchen, demonstration areas, food storage, and freezers, meeting all legal and company standards
• Assist with cleaning duties, including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bakery
• Participate in departmental meetings as needed
• Collaborate effectively as part of a team
• Deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service
• Follow and interpret instructions accurately
• Demonstrate high levels of responsibility and reliability
• Act with a sense of urgency in completing tasks

Qualifications for a Baker at Dawn Foods:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Certification or Associate’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a bakery, restaurant, hotel, or similar back-of-house kitchen/hospitality role may substitute for formal qualifications
• ServSafe or an equivalent food safety certification, or a willingness to obtain one
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $35,510 and $53,260, with bonus eligibility.
