We are actively seeking a General Manager for our Planet Fitness location in Adrian, Michigan. As a franchisee of Planet Fitness, PEC Fitness Inc. is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to take on this leadership position. The ideal candidate will possess a hands-on management style, strong customer service skills, and a genuine passion for fostering team development.

Position Overview:

The General Manager will oversee all operational aspects of the club, including leading a team, delivering outstanding member experiences, ensuring both operational and financial success, and maintaining the high standards of the Planet Fitness brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing team, consisting of Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere for all members, potential members, and guests while upholding exemplary customer service standards.
  • Schedule staff efficiently to ensure all shifts are adequately covered.
  • Guarantee that staff consistently delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Lead by example, maintaining accountability through coaching, training, and active performance management of direct reports.
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all club employees.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns; manage disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary.
  • Warmly greet members and guests, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Professionally handle incoming calls, assisting callers with inquiries or concerns.
  • Check members into the system, conduct tours, enroll new members, and log usage of amenities.
  • Effectively communicate club events, updates, and promotions to both members and guests.
  • Oversee and actively engage in daily cleaning duties, taking responsibility for a significant area of the facility.
  • Ensure the front desk and lobby areas are clean, organized, and inviting.
  • Participate in overall facility cleaning and maintenance tasks, including mopping spills, taking out trash, cleaning windows and mirrors, and re-racking weights.
  • Maintain the safety of employees, members, and property by identifying and reporting equipment or facility issues to the Facilities Maintenance team promptly.
  • Ensure staff are well-trained and informed regarding all marketing promotions.
  • Authorize expenditures, process refunds, and prepare all HR forms for submission to the Corporate HR and Payroll Team.
  • Track and submit weekly, monthly, and annual reports and statistics.
  • Provide support and coverage for employees during absences.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to meet club needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • One to three years of management experience preferred, with a focus on the fitness or service industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a capacity to quickly learn internal systems.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Organized with strong problem-solving and planning capabilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation are mandatory.
