Job description:
As a Business Development Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Sr. Manager and Sr. Director of Business Development at the Greater Columbus Sports Commission (GCSC) in their mission to attract sporting events to Columbus. Your contributions will be instrumental in prospecting, bidding, and facilitating visits from potential clients. By joining our team, you will actively participate in elevating Columbus’s profile as a premier sports destination, enhancing the quality of life for its residents and positively impacting the Central Ohio economy.
Key Responsibilities:
– Serve as the liaison between the GCSC and Experience Columbus (EC) concerning the CRM database, Simpleview, which includes:
– Entering leads and accounts
– Monitoring lead responses and conducting necessary follow-ups
– Distributing contract verifications
– Gathering hotel pickup information
– Generating and analyzing reports
– Potentially attending the Simpleview Summit for professional development
– Assist the Business Development team throughout the bid process, which entails:
– Following up with partners regarding lead responses and verifications
– Customizing and formatting bid book pages in PowerPoint
– Sourcing and arranging delivery of gifts for prospective clients and guests
– Support all pre- and post-activities related to client site inspections or Familiarization Tours (FAM), including:
– Compiling and distributing agendas
– Booking airfare, lodging, and meal reservations
– Preparing and delivering client amenities to hotels
– Coordinating airport transfers
– Organize in-house and client meetings by:
– Creating and distributing invitations
– Ordering food and beverages as needed
– Distributing tickets as required
– Preparing agendas and setting up meeting rooms
– Performing cleanup after events
– Attend client functions and GCSC and Experience Columbus events as requested.
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with experience in the following areas, gained through education, work experience, or a combination of both:
– Providing administrative support in a small team environment
– Data entry in databases or spreadsheets
– Managing independent projects while also collaborating within a team
– Performing customer service duties, including welcoming guests
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general Internet use
– Ability to follow directions, ask questions, and apply feedback
– Strong teamwork skills, underpinned by respect, trust, and knowledge sharing
– Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
– Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
