Job description:

The Packer is integral to the production process, responsible for packaging products into trays or cartons for shipping. Duties include preparing and assembling cartons, manually packing and palletizing finished products, and performing final quality inspections to ensure adherence to standards.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Prepare cardboard cartons and trays for packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling, while ensuring that packaging materials are stocked adequately.
  • Conduct visual inspections of final product packaging to verify integrity, including bag registration, code dates, and seals. Identify and report any defective products or packaging issues.
  • Fill cartons and displays according to packaging specifications, ensuring the correct labeling and sealing of cases as needed.
  • Stack and organize cartons on pallets or skids, utilizing appropriate patterns and equipment such as pallet jacks for items weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by clearing debris, disposing of defective materials, and following safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Assist with product rework as directed and practice adherence to housekeeping standards, including the implementation of 5S protocols.
  • Store packaging supplies appropriately, keep aisles and exits clear, and perform sanitation duties as directed.
  • Prepare lines for startup and assist with equipment changeovers when necessary.
  • Potentially operate tray-making and stapling machinery, and report issues to supervisors as needed; other duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.
