Job description:

Unidine is actively seeking both full-time and part-time Cook positions to join our team.

  • Location: EHM Saline – 400 West Russell Street, Saline, MI 48176.
  • Schedule: Flexible full-time and part-time schedules available, with varying days and hours. Detailed scheduling information will be provided during the interview process.
  • Requirement: Previous experience as a prep cook and/or line cook is preferred.
  • Pay Range: $18.00 to $18.40 per hour.

Job Summary

As a Cook, you will prepare food in alignment with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards while adhering to established policies and procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that quality food service is consistently provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serve meals or prepare food for delivery by adhering to correct portioning, maintaining outlined standards, and ensuring food is presented attractively and served at the appropriate temperatures. Taste all prepared food items.
  • Implement established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain records from your area of responsibility.
  • Clean the kitchen post-preparation and service, upholding high standards of cleanliness. Store or discard excess food per safe food-handling procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in refrigerators and storerooms, ensuring that food and supplies are stored according to standards.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment according to instructions.
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
  • Support the ordering and receiving of food and supplies as needed.
  • Report any required maintenance, equipment malfunctions, or accidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings.
  • Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure proper food presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance while complying with HACCP standards.
  • Commit personally to your own safety and that of others.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including:
    • Utilizing medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning slicers.
    • Using oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans.
    • Wearing slip-resistant shoes and employing proper lifting techniques.
