Job Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards and guidelines, adhering to established policies and procedures. Consistent delivery of high-quality food service is paramount.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality food items following standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serve meals or prepare them for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, compliance with outlined standards, and that food is served at the appropriate temperature, alongside ensuring its visual appeal and taste. Sample all prepared food items.
  • Follow established ticket collection procedures during service and maintain accurate records for the areas worked.
  • Clean the kitchen after food preparation and service, upholding rigorous cleanliness standards, and store or discard surplus food in line with safe food handling procedures.
  • Maintain orderly refrigerators and storerooms, ensuring food and supplies are stored according to standards.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assist in production planning, record-keeping, and reporting as required.
  • Support the ordering and receiving of food and supplies as needed.
  • Report any required maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings.
  • Foster positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
  • Ensure a clean, safe work environment, performing all tasks with safety in mind.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures while following HACCP standards.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to your safety and that of others.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Using medium-weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning a slicer.
    • Utilizing oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers, or steam tables.
    • Wearing slip-resistant shoes and employing proper lifting techniques.
