Graceworks Lutheran Services is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving over 2,000 older adults and individuals with disabilities. Position Summary:
This full-time role operates on a schedule from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with weekend shifts required every other weekend. Compensation for this position ranges from $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. The individual in this role will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at providing quality nutritional care to our residents. This includes precise and sanitary food preparation, service, and thorough cleaning in compliance with strict federal, state, and local regulations.
Job Duties:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, adhering to established recipes and production counts.
- Portion and plate meals for the Vista Place dining room and the Pavilion.
- Monitor and record temperatures of all hot and cold food items prior to serving.
- Ensure cost efficiency through proper production, portioning, and sanitary food handling practices.
- Safely operate kitchen equipment and promptly report any issues.
- Properly cover, label, date, and refrigerate all pre-prepared food items.
- Clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as tasks are completed.
- Execute all assigned production and cleaning responsibilities.
- Accurately document and communicate all relevant information concerning Vista Place Dining.
- Strategically plan cooking schedules to ensure timely meal service.
- Review menus to determine required quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups for preparation.
- Collaborate with supervisors regarding any preparation challenges or adjustments.
- Retrieve food items from the refrigerator, freezer, or storeroom as needed.
- Clean, trim, and cut meats as necessary.
- Prepare vegetables for cooking.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, adjusting quantities as needed.
- Inspect foods and meats within storage areas.
- Maintain a sanitary environment by keeping ranges, work tables, equipment, and refrigerators clean.
- Manage edible food items in alignment with supervisory directions for storage or disposal.
- Notify management of any discrepancies in the quality or quantity of received food items.
- Adhere to sanitation regulations when handling and preparing food.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks within designated time frames.
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures, as well as federal and state privacy laws concerning protected health information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include the ability to read, follow directions, and document information accurately. Candidates must possess good vision for reading small print on measuring containers and identifying subtle color differences in skin tones and packaging materials. Applicants must be able to pass a drug test, including screenings for marijuana.
Minimum experience required is previous cooking experience.
