Job description:

Assists the Cooks in the preparation, serving, and sanitation of the dining facility, equipment, and surfaces.

Brief Description of Duties

  • Responsible for the setup and breakdown of the serving line.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization within the dining and kitchen areas.
  • Alerts staff regarding items that require replenishment and restocking.
  • Aids in the rotation of perishable items at the end of shifts to ensure product freshness.
  • Delivers service to students, staff, and guests in a pleasant, efficient, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Assists with dishwashing duties as necessary.
  • Oversees the changing and emptying of trash receptacles.
  • Arrives at work in a neat and clean manner, adhering to proper attire guidelines.
  • Familiarizes oneself with the communication system in case of emergency.
  • Assists with programming and activity events as required.
  • Supports food preparation staff by performing tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits.
  • Cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood.
  • Prepares food items by dipping them in crumbs, flour, and batter.
  • Stirs and strains soups and sauces, weighing or measuring designated ingredients.
  • Transports pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator.
