Job description:
A prominent automotive supplier located in Jackson, Michigan, is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor. This is a full-time, permanent direct hire position that offers a competitive salary, bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, paid holidays, and paid vacation.
Responsibilities:
The Production Supervisor will oversee all plant activities during their shift to ensure adherence to established production targets. This role involves executing supervisory duties in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws while fostering effective communication with other supervisors and management. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, assigning, and directing production activities and personnel.
- Training production operators on work instructions and processing procedures.
- Prioritizing production requirements by assessing labor needs against actual headcount.
- Monitoring the quality of products being produced.
- Conducting shift meetings to communicate objectives and relay essential information to production associates.
- Providing written updates through shift communications.
- Establishing effective communication channels with all associates.
- Conducting annual performance reviews for production associates.
- Ensuring the implementation of all company policies.
- Guaranteeing that appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is supplied and utilized by employees.
- Guiding material handlers regarding part shortages and assisting with line changes.
- Assisting with first aid administration in the event of an accident and compiling accident/incident reports.
- Leading and facilitating corrective action initiatives and continuous improvement teams.
- Coaching production associates and completing Conduct and Corrective Action reports as necessary.
- Approving and managing time-off requests from production associates.
- Overseeing the daily approval of employee time cards and ensuring accurate completion of attendance documentation.
- Ensuring that production associates are adequately trained for their roles and facilitating training when necessary.
- Meeting regularly with other supervisors and management to review production activities.
- Complying with TS16949, ISO14001, all relevant MIOSHA legislative requirements, and taking accountability for specific Health & Safety responsibilities.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of four years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Availability to work any shift is necessary.
- Capability to perform and understand all functions of an Assembly Operator.
- Experience with welding, robotics, and assembly methods is preferred.
- A valid forklift license is advantageous.
- Lean manufacturing experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, with the ability to read and write documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
- Proven ability to motivate employees and strong problem-solving techniques.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed is expected.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, and other relevant software is necessary.
- A capacity to interact effectively with all levels of employees within the organization.
