Job Title: Packaging Machine Operator

Job Summary/Job Duties:
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of snack packaging machinery under general supervision. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing the production schedule and planning accordingly.
- Monitoring packaging machinery operations, including codes, dates, and pricing, to ensure efficient performance.
- Maintaining an adequate supply of packaging materials for each machine.
- Adjusting machine micro logic setups as necessary to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Demonstrating the skills required to operate packaging equipment proficiently, including machine setups, changeovers, procedural adjustments, and sanitation cleanup.
- Planning and executing machine changeovers effectively to transition between different product items.
- Ensuring proper film cutoff and seals on bags.
- Monitoring machine speeds to meet production standards.
- Checking product weights and appearance as necessary.
- Managing product runoffs appropriately, sorting and reworking good product as needed.
- Ensuring cleanliness of machines and work areas.
- Reporting any maintenance issues promptly to the Maintenance Mechanic or Supervisor.
- Adhering to safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Storing supplies in designated areas and keeping aisles and exits unobstructed.
- Following safe lifting and carrying instructions, addressing equipment issues, and reporting any job-related injuries.
- Providing leadership and direction to packers, as needed.
- Potentially qualifying for roles such as Backup Packaging Coordinator or other technical positions.
- Monitoring and replenishing seasonings on equipment, if applicable.
- Overtime may be required, along with other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED and/or a minimum of one year of production experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to comply with the physical demands of frequently lifting and moving stock by hand or using manual equipment (including pallet jacks and forklifts). Regular lifting of 40+ lbs. is required, with the capability to lift/move over 50 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
Work Environment:
The Packaging Machine Operator is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequently encounters wet and/or humid conditions. Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
Individual base pay will depend on location, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total compensation may also include various forms of remuneration.
