Job description:

Seeking a new career challenge? Woolpert is currently looking for an A&P Mechanic to join our dynamic Aerial Survey team in Dayton, OH. This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance and is primarily responsible for aircraft maintenance. Qualified candidates must possess a current A&P certification.

The A&P Mechanic will support modified King Air 300, Cessna 404, and Cessna 406 aircraft, ensuring compliance with manufacturer programs and FAA standards. Responsibilities include maintaining all logbooks and fulfilling company reporting requirements. Candidates must be capable of operating independently in diverse environments, both CONUS and OCONUS, and contributing as a team member to maintain high aircraft availability rates year-round. The role also involves supervising vendor technicians for specialized inspections, repairs, or logistical support, as well as liaising with domestic and foreign government representatives regarding local logistical infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the Traxxall maintenance tracking program and overseeing parts ordering, receiving, and shipping processes. Mechanics will generally work autonomously with minimal supervision and must ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and safely.

Essential Functions:
As an A&P Mechanic at Woolpert, you will:

  • Leverage core knowledge to troubleshoot aircraft on-ground and perform installations and servicing to minimize off-site repairs.
  • Install parts and document maintenance performed in logbooks.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair aircraft engines and assemblies, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and service avionics communications equipment and electrical systems, ensuring conformity with mandated requirements and specifications. Perform testing and calibration of avionic systems.
  • Provide maintenance support at the aircraft location utilizing company-provided ground support equipment (GSE) and tooling.
  • Record spare parts and tooling inventory, including receipt, issuance, and tracking of cores.
  • Conduct phase inspections and unscheduled maintenance with compressed turnaround cycles.
  • Monitor tooling calibration requirements and ensure all equipment is calibrated to manufacturer standards.
  • Organize core returns for shipment, completing all necessary return and customs paperwork.
  • Own assigned tasks from initiation to completion or decision point.
  • Contribute to the program’s overall success by supporting customer needs and executing responsibilities efficiently.
  • Provide recommendations for resolving maintenance and logistical challenges.
  • Submit daily reports on aircraft status.
  • Operate in field locations, utilizing standard office equipment. Travel and rotational deployment to CONUS and possibly austere OCONUS duty locations will be required, with aircraft widely distributed across the U.S. and Hawaii. Candidates must be prepared for short-notice travel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 15+ years of Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Current A&P certification
  • Preferred certifications: Inspection Authorization, FCC License, King Air Factory School, Pratt Whitney Factory School, HSI course
  • Willingness to travel 40%
  • Ability to work extra hours as needed
  • Capacity to lift at least 75 pounds
