Job description:
The selected candidate will report to the Enterprise Applications Support team, which is responsible for overseeing core application changes, reporting, and releases related to the internal technologies utilized by Wayne County. We seek well-qualified candidates with experience in developing, supporting, and managing Enterprise Application Cloud environments, implementations, and migrations. Familiarity with Windows and Linux Server, MSSQL and Oracle Relational Databases, Cloud Infrastructure, and SaaS Cloud technologies is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding and capability to support enterprise-level cloud technologies and solutions.
The Enterprise Application Support teams are currently driving several next-generation initiatives to advance our platforms into the cloud. This role offers the opportunity to gain insights into cloud-based architectures and to develop solutions for cloud-based infrastructures as code.
The position demands a strong combination of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to facilitate our cloud journey and ensure the seamless operation of our enterprise applications.
Required Tasks:
- Serve as the subject matter expert and architect for all Enterprise Application technologies utilized within the county.
- Maintain and regularly update internal architecture designs.
- Develop and manage operational runbooks, knowledge bases, and incident playbooks.
- Collaborate with security and audit teams to support compliance remediation and reporting.
- Coordinate and validate application patching activities.
- Partner with vendors on SaaS-based solutions to ensure operational excellence.
- Implement observability and monitoring standards utilizing enterprise monitoring frameworks.
- Act as an application architect and subject matter expert.
- Design and maintain architectural frameworks and patterns for Cloud Infrastructure, on-premises, and hybrid application environments.
- Integrate enterprise applications, automation, and implementation for both support and deployment.
- Certify application code changes and updates in conjunction with release activities.
- Engage with county divisions to understand their needs and incorporate them into our operating requirements and roadmaps.
- Manage the daily ticketing queue to ensure prompt response and resolution of requests and incidents.
- Develop new cloud patterns and conduct proof-of-concept work.
- Support cloud migration efforts and the development of new cloud-based architectures.
- Devise patching and compliance design patterns for all application environments.
- Architect observability standards and integrate Splunk with all application technologies.
- Assist with contract funding and approval processes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of cloud-native applications.
- Stay informed about the latest cloud technologies and best practices.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with SaaS or Cloud-based enterprise application solutions.
Library (ITIL) or ITIL certification is preferred.
