Join our team of dedicated grocery professionals and enhance your leadership skills! Nino Salvaggio is seeking an Assistant Deli Manager for our Troy location.
Responsibilities:
– Assist in supervising, directing, coordinating, and evaluating operations within the cheese and deli department.
– Determine the variety and quantity of cheese and olive display products to produce based on orders and sales projections.
– Collaborate with the department manager and/or general manager to establish merchandising strategies, budget plans, and departmental goals.
– Aid in planning product distribution to customers and negotiate with suppliers for the purchase and delivery of cheese and olive display products and supplies.
– Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation guidelines consistently.
– Support in interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating a productive team, fostering a positive training and supervision environment.
– Develop familiarity with all products in the department, understanding differences in price, taste, preparation, and usage among the various cheese and olive display items offered.
– Slice, weigh, package, and label all deli and cheese selections for customers.
– Adhere to approved procedures for receiving products, dating, pricing, and restocking to ensure quality protection, public image, accuracy, and effective product rotation.
– Train and supervise associates in the safe and compliant operation of all departmental equipment.
– Verify received merchandise against vendor invoices, ensuring all items meet quality standards.
– Collaborate with the Department Manager and/or General Manager to review new products.
– Manage inventory control, ensuring freshness, product quality, and turnover for optimal sales and return on investment.
– Foster effective communication within the store and across the organization.
– Maintain an appealing department image, ensuring a clean, attractive, and friendly environment for customers.
– Greet customers, providing prompt and courteous service in alignment with company standards.
– Motivate associates to achieve sales and customer service goals.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or GED required.
– Minimum of six months of related cheese/deli experience required.
– Availability during weekends is necessary.
– Food Management Certification is preferred.
– Reliable transportation is essential.
– Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods (8 or more hours).
