Job description:
Under general supervision, assumes immediate responsibility for the investigation and analysis of traffic and related transportation issues, undertaking complex and specialized tasks within this domain.
Examples of Duties:
- Oversees the investigation of traffic conditions and challenges through field surveys and the examination of existing statistical data.
- Develops innovative traffic survey methodologies.
- Assigns investigative tasks to team members and provides guidance on objectives and procedures.
- Analyzes and critically assesses reports and recommendations from subordinates for clarity and feasibility.
- Formulates traffic control strategies, including the utilization of signals, signage, and other control devices.
- Designs, selects, and prepares specifications for these devices, ensuring quality and suitability during both manufacturing and upon delivery.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of current traffic regulations and proposes necessary revisions or enhancements.
- Compiles traffic-related data into report formats and organizes their distribution.
- Guides the creation of maps and layouts for proposed traffic structures, indicating their general characteristics to aid in traffic studies and management.
- Performs delegated supervisory tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in traffic engineering or a related field of traffic planning is required. Candidates should possess four years of experience in traffic and related engineering activities, especially in the study and implementation of traffic controls in urban environments. This experience should include at least two years of statistical analysis and reporting of traffic data and two years in a supervisory role.
