POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of this role is to respond promptly to guest repair requests and liaise with guests and customers to address maintenance issues with limited supervision. This position entails performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, which includes cleaning and lubrication, as well as conducting visual inspections of machinery. The successful candidate will be required to transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios) and identify and operate all shut-off valves related to equipment and building systems.
Responsibilities also encompass managing maintenance inventory, requisitioning parts and supplies as necessary, and ensuring effective communication regarding daily activities and issues to subsequent shifts through established protocols. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in one specialized area, possess above-average skills in two additional areas, and exhibit basic skills in the remaining categories, including but not limited to: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, and kitchen equipment management.
The role requires a solid understanding of safety procedures when using hand and power tools, as well as the ability to repair or replace PVC and copper piping, including soldering. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and performing repairs on a range of equipment, such as pump and motor replacement, plumbing tasks (toilet plunging and drain unclogging), and electrical equipment handling, including replacing switches and outlets. Additional duties include programming TVs, assisting with surface preparation and painting, performing minor drywall and wood trim repairs, replacing light bulbs and A/C filters, and ensuring thorough cleanup of work areas.
Utilization of the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of engineering computer programs relevant to preventative maintenance and energy management, and demonstrate mid-level troubleshooting capabilities for hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. The successful candidate should also have the ability to train and mentor junior engineers and fulfill Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including necessary readings and rounds.
The role demands adherence to all company policies regarding safety and security. Maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries must be reported promptly, and all necessary safety training and certifications must be completed. Maintaining a professional appearance and confidentiality, as well as protecting company assets, is essential. Candidates are expected to engage with guests proactively, addressing service needs and demonstrating appreciation consistently.
Employees must work with others collaboratively to achieve common goals, respond appropriately to colleagues throughout the organization, and communicate effectively in a professional manner. Physical requirements include moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier items with assistance, as well as navigating stairs and ladders, and reaching over and below the knees.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with vocational or technical training.
Related Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel engineering/maintenance and expertise in general maintenance and surface preparation, including painting.
Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.
