Job Description:
As a Business Librarian, you will play a pivotal role in delivering reference services, readers’ advisory, and computer assistance to patrons of all ages through diverse collections and formats. Your focus will be on prioritizing time at the Information Desk, recognizing the critical importance of reference services in public librarianship.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide expert reference services and assistance to patrons, ensuring they have access to necessary information and resources.
- Participate actively in the development and maintenance of collections, particularly in Business and Career resources, while adhering to budgetary and spatial constraints.
- Design, promote, and implement programming tailored to the needs of the business community, actively engaging in outreach initiatives.
- Maintain proficiency with library databases and digital services, while continuously learning and adapting to evolving technologies and software.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve on internal and external committees as needed.
- Enforce library policies relevant to public use, responding decisively to emergencies and providing necessary support with sound judgment.
- Communicate effectively with patrons, colleagues, and professional contacts, fostering a collaborative environment across departments to achieve collective goals.
- Advocate for and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the workplace and the broader community.

Job Qualifications & Skills:
- A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution is required.
- Familiarity with adult and youth literature is essential.
- Previous experience with business resources and databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, internet browsers, and other relevant technologies is needed.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are crucial.
- A strong commitment to public service and delivering outstanding customer care is necessary.
- Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and project management skills are required.
- A positive, enthusiastic, creative, and approachable demeanor is essential.

Working Environment:

Benefits: Employees will begin accruing time benefits from their date of hire, including 36 hours of personal business time annually, 6 hours of sick time each month, 6 hours of vacation time monthly (with incremental increases based on service years), and paid holidays.
Hours: Twenty-seven (27) hours per week, encompassing days, evenings, and some weekends.
