Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and engage in meaningful conversation
  • Assist with personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding
  • Perform light housekeeping and manage household tasks, such as laundry and linen changes
  • Select appropriate apparel by laying out clothes for clients
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals
  • Remind clients about medication schedules
  • Offer mobility support, including standby assistance and transfers using a hoyer lift
  • Provide transportation using your own vehicle or the client’s vehicle
  • Educate family members on safe caregiving techniques
  • Demonstrate tolerance for small pets (e.g., dogs and/or cats)

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate the ability to treat clients with dignity and respect
  • Possess the ability to read, write, and speak English at an average adult level and interpret the Plan of Care Document provided by Senior Helpers
  • Having a valid driver’s license and insurance is preferred
  • Ability to utilize public transportation to commute to work
  • Maintain a valid US-issued driver’s license with no serious driving violations
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to new situations
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check prior to employment with Senior Helpers
  • Prior experience in dementia care and senior support is advantageous, but not mandatory
  • Must be reachable via phone or email for shift schedules, client updates, and emergencies
