Job description:
Nino Salvaggio is seeking a Catering Party Planning Manager to join our team at our upcoming Livonia location, scheduled to open in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will receive training at our existing metro Detroit locations, including Troy, Bloomfield Township, Clinton Township, and St. Clair Shores.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of the Nino Salvaggio catering program and Fresh to Go (curbside shopping), ensuring effective management of associates and meeting customer service needs.
- Train necessary personnel to guarantee that the catering program and Fresh to Go services are adequately staffed and efficiently executed.
- Inspire associates to meet and exceed sales and customer service goals.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Director of Culinary Operations, and General Manager to ensure the seamless execution of the catering program, providing constructive feedback as needed.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services listed in Nino’s Party Planning Guide.
- Understand menu planning, including factors influencing menu choices, food combinations, portion sizes, required quantities, wine pairings, ancillary items (e.g., flowers, balloons), and rental or food preparation equipment.
- Accurately utilize Nino’s Party Planning Order Entry software.
- Ensure all catering orders are executed properly from inception to completion, maintaining order accuracy, quality, and timely delivery coordination.
- Coordinate with relevant departments (e.g., Floral, Wine, Bakery, Produce Prep, Deli) to fulfill customer orders and requests.
- Provide friendly and proficient customer service, assisting customers with orders, answering queries, and offering suggestions when appropriate.
- Actively promote department sales and growth through effective upselling, marketing, and solicitation of new catering opportunities.
- Ensure the efficient execution of Fresh to Go services, including e-grocery systems, processing, bagging groceries, and proper storage until delivery.
- Adhere to established procedures for customer communication regarding product substitutions.
- Deliver an exceptional Fresh to Go experience, ensuring order accuracy, timely fulfillment, and prompt delivery.
- Identify and document items needing removal from Fresh to Go, collaborating with the corporate office to keep the e-grocery website updated.
- Maintain expertise in all departmental offerings, particularly Gourmet to Go.
- Complete Responsible Alcohol Sales training and comply with all alcohol sales regulations and guidelines.
- Operate cash registers and manage customer payments when necessary.
- Oversee invoicing, record retention, and analysis for catering and Fresh to Go orders.
- Manage catering supplies, including ordering and inventory as required.
- Ensure the strategic placement and replenishment of Party Planning Guides and supplemental materials throughout the store.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned, including support for other departments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; a culinary degree or relevant combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Minimum age of 18 with demonstrated knowledge of various department operations.
- Previous experience in catering event planning is preferred.
- Prior cash handling experience is essential.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
- Experience in sales and customer service is required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a proactive and innovative attitude.
- Superior verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to multitask, maintain a positive attitude, and solve problems efficiently.
- Capability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
