Job description:

Nino Salvaggio is seeking a Catering Party Planning Manager for our Livonia location, set to open in Fall 2025. Training will take place at our other metro Detroit locations, including Troy, Bloomfield Township, Clinton Township, and St. Clair Shores.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the coordination and administration of all facets of Nino Salvaggio’s catering program and Fresh to Go curbside shopping, while managing staff and addressing customer service needs.
  • Train personnel to ensure appropriate staffing and execution of the catering program and Fresh to Go.
  • Motivate team members to meet sales and customer service objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Director of Culinary Operations, and General Manager to ensure optimal execution of the catering program, providing constructive feedback as necessary.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of products and services in Nino’s Party Planning Guide.
  • Understand menu planning, including factors influencing menu choices, food pairings, portion sizes, and the inclusion of additional items such as floral arrangements and rental equipment.
  • Accurately utilize Nino’s Party Planning Order Entry software.
  • Ensure thorough follow-up on all PPG/Catering orders, monitoring order accuracy, quality, and delivery coordination from inception to completion.
  • Work with various departments such as Floral, Wine, Bakery, Produce Prep, and Deli to fulfill customer orders promptly.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting customers with their orders and providing relevant suggestions.
  • Drive department sales growth through effective upselling and marketing strategies while actively seeking new catering opportunities.
  • Execute Fresh to Go services efficiently, including e-grocery shopping, bagging, and storage until delivery.
  • Adhere to procedures for communicating product substitutions to customers.
  • Maintain a high-quality Fresh to Go experience, ensuring order accuracy and timely fulfillment and delivery.
  • Track and document items that need removal from Fresh to Go, collaborating with the corporate office to keep the e-grocery website current.
  • Possess knowledge of products across all departments, particularly within Gourmet to Go.
  • Complete Responsible Alcohol Sales training and comply with all alcohol sales regulations.
  • Operate the cash register and manage customer payments when necessary.
  • Oversee invoicing and record retention for all catering and Fresh to Go orders.
  • Manage catering supplies, including ordering and inventory as needed.
  • Ensure proper signage placement and availability of Party Planning Guides and supplementary materials throughout the store.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned, including support in other departments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum age of 18, with a strong understanding of varied departmental functions.
  • Culinary degree or a combination of relevant work experience and education preferred.
  • Prior experience in catering event planning is preferred.
  • Experience in cash handling is required.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Proven background in sales and customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to multitask, maintain composure, and effectively problem-solve.
  • Physically able to bend, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Proficient in composing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation, including memos, employee notices, and customer communication.
